Derby Market Hall is situated in the heart of the City Centre, and has undergone a £35m transformation that will make it much more than a market. Beside the traditional market stalls, we will be opening a thriving food court, a make and trade offer to invigorate traders and creativity, and a wide programme of events that will bring Derby’s residents and beyond together to celebrate the best of Derby and Derbyshire, and create a destination to stay and enjoy as part of Derby’s evolution next year.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, driven individual that can bring this project through the final stages of pre-opening, then once open to implement the plans and processes you create to ensure the Market Hall is a great environment for the public to come together, enjoy themselves and come back for more!

The successful candidate will manage a variety of relationships, operational practices, staff development, and will be a key part of the Market Hall’s success. The OpportunityIn the role of Market Operations Manager, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:Creating and implementing operational processes and procedures to create a safe and engaging work environment.Managing staff to ensure they are trained to give the best experience possible.Contribute towards the event programme to ensure the Market Hall is a great place to visit and return to.Managing operational budgets.Working flexibly across the week to manage the different operational demands with footfall.Stakeholder management with traders, creatives and the public for the best well-rounded experience.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have...Demonstrable experience of operational management across a market, venue and/or retail space
Considerable experience of developing and utilizing operational policies and processes
Experience of working with a wide variety of stakeholders
Experience of training and developing staff
Experience of working on event delivery within a market or venue environment
Excellent communication skills
A positive can-do attitude
An ability to work flexibly and in collaboration with partners
