The OpportunityIn the role of Waste Minimisation and Engagement Lead, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:• To increase participation in the council’s recycling scheme and promote the various options for responsible waste management. • Take the lead in carrying out targeted campaign work to improve recycling quality by reducing the opportunity for contamination.• Prepare, design and distribute recycling promotional information (website, call centre scripts, leaflets etc) to ensure the public, schools, visitors and other stakeholders know how to deal with their waste. • Educate, promote and raise awareness of waste minimisation and recycling practices. • Managing a small team of Waste Minimisation officers• Working directly with Derby City residents to drive a measurable reduction in household waste. • Encouraging behaviour change and positivity towards waste reduction and recycling.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have...
• Experience working in a customer service-based environment and a commitment to customer care and quality standards• IT skills – confident use of computers including MS Office (Work, Excel and Outlook).• Plan, prepare and carry out short term projects and organise workloads for small groups.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information accurately to a non-specialist audience• Full UK driving license• Minimum of 5 GCSE passes including English and Mathematics or equivalent• Experience of working in waste management would be advantageous.
