Derby has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Head of Service for Children’s Safeguarding
services. Our Early Help and Children’s Social Care services are Ofsted rated Good, and we continue our journey to transform how we support children and families. We are ambitious for all our children and young people to achieve their potential and have the best start in life. Now is a perfect and exciting time to join us and be part of a strong and established leadership team.
As Head of Service, we are looking for
• In depth understanding and knowledge of children’s safeguarding
• Proven experience of leading and delivering statutory services
• A track record of working in and forging successful partnerships
• Excellent communication and relationship development skills
• Being able to demonstrate ability to initiate solutions to complex situations
• Experience of implementing plans and ensuring changes are embedded
• Demonstrable experience of influencing and negotiating at a senior level
In this critical post you will be responsible for the Derby’s Reception, Out of Hours and Locality Services. You will lead and develop plans to ensure that the safeguarding needs of children, young people and families are met.
You will be an ambassador for Derby City Council and be integral in the development of our strategic plans for the safeguarding needs of children and young people and working with partners across the City. You will lead by example and be a role model across our workforce, providing inspirational leadership which motivates people to embrace change, improve practice and performance which results in better safeguarding and well-being for children, young people, their families and the communities in which they live across Derby.
