Role: Streetpride Service Manager – waste collection Salary: Grade M £54,724 - £59,237 per year (pay award pending) Location: Stores Road Depot, Derby Hours: 37Closing Date: 4/5/2025 Contract Type: Permanent
We are looking to recruit a hardworking, enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive individual to fulfil the role of Streetpride Service Manager within the waste collection service.
The service is a front-line service, responsible for the collection of a variety of waste streams at every domestic property across Derby. Our current waste streams are mixed residual waste, dry recycling, and an opt in garden waste scheme. The service employs over 120 staff to carry out this work, divided into multiple teams with a number of Team Leaders carrying out line management responsibilities.
We may be biased, but there has never been a more exciting time to work in waste. Forthcoming changes to how local authorities collect waste is upon us, and in April 2026, we are introducing a weekly food waste collection service in line with Simpler Recycling legislation. The successful applicant will plan and implement this new service, and monitor and adapt resources to provide an efficient and effective service which delivers value for money. The successful applicant will also be responsible for the garden waste stream.
Your role is a leadership position within a busy operational environment, and will require you to have a high level of problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills. Within the operational services we deliver, there is also the need to comply with health and safety and Council policies. This includes monitoring of attendance, performance and the continual improvement of our health and safety practices and procedures. This may include frequently adapting to changes in legal legislation and internal Council procedures.
The successful applicant will work alongside another Streetpride Service Manager who will be responsible overseeing the mixed residual and dry recycling waste streams. The two Service Managers will work together and provide cover for each other during periods of absence. Our depot is based on Stores Road in Derby.
If this sounds like a challenge you are interested in, we’d like to receive your application. If you are shortlisted, you will be required to attend an interview. Interviews will be held week commencing 12th May 2025 at Stores Road Depot. If you would like to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Sam Kelly on 01332 641582.
